It is interesting to note that 80% of the animals are exclusive inhabitants to this area.
Sigiriya is an ancient stone fortress located in Sri Lanka. Surrounding this monstrous fortress are moats, gardens, and the remains of structures long crumbled. Strange and interesting stone formations populate the grounds, some of which were manipulated for use by early humans around five thousand years ago. Ancient frescoes and strange terraced gardens provide a glimpse into a culture belonging to some of our earliest ancestors.
A chain of four islands in the Indian Ocean known as Socotra has made the list of World Heritage Sites. Being disconnected from the mainland for centuries has encouraged the development of rare and unique animal and plant life found nowhere else on earth. One third of the 800 different types of flowers fit into this category as do the dragon’s blood tree.
